Celebrations: Full Moon in Pisces
How I'm experiencing the moon + a tarot reflection for me (and maybe you)
Happy full moon. đ âď¸ The moon is full in Pisces this evening at 9:36pm ET and it feels special. Not only is it a blue moon â the second full month in this month of August â it is also a supermoon, meaning that it is happening closer than usual to the earth. I am hoping for a clear night and an epic moonrise. And also perhaps it feels special because my natal moon is in Pisces and I am, as usual, especially curious about what new learning this lunation brings.
Somewhere I encountered a description of the archetype of Pisces as the sign of âprimordial beingnessâ (or something like that). Whatever it was, I like it. My mind conjures the image of the first sea creatures to venture onto land, before evolution would give us all of these newfangled land-dwelling adaptations. I am reminded that before we were suited for land, we swam in the depths.
When I sit with Piscean energy, I am able to connect to the energy of oneness and of union, of complex ecosystems of interdependence, of the unknown, of the potential for both attunement and enmeshment, of deep creativity and flow states, and of the generative experience of being right-sized. To be just a creature within the vast expanse of oceans.Â
The moon â our moon â is in relationship with the waters of our bodies and speaks to us of our embodied experience. So, how are we feeling around the peak of this lunar cycle? I generally feel tired and what I can only describe as water-logged around a full moon. These are not my favorite ways to feel but I can appreciate the power of the moonâs gravitational pull.Â
I am responding now by slowing down a little more, by taking my time and by offering myself whatever opportunities I can manage to rest. I imagine that everyone has their own particular relationship with the lunations but my relationship with the full moon is much less about doing and much more being.
I am reminding myself that what a full moon illuminates is the peak of experience. When the moon is full, it still has half the lunar cycle ahead to complete and at this moment, the moon is a phase of illumination, reflection, and celebration. It is the time to ask questions and harvest answers. It is also the time to listen carefully for whispers of what is next, of what will take us towards completion.Â
So, in the light of this moon, what questions are you asking? What are you seeing? What you are reflecting? What are you coming into greater understanding around and what are you celebrating?Â
I woke up yesterday morning in these questions but not quite sure where to begin with them. So I did what I do when Iâm not sure what to do and took a few minutes to pull some cards. What spoke feels like it is meant to be shared and so I will. Perhaps something here will resonate with you or perhaps this is just a nudge to pull from your own deck or journal or scry into a bowl of water or meditate or take a walk or go swimming. Regardless of how you will receive the information you need, thank you for being witness to my own process.Â
*I was drawn towards two different decks today and I pulled from both The Wild Unknown archetypes deck and The Herbcrafterâs Tarot. I love them both.*Â
Illumination/What this waxing gibbousâto-full moon is illuminating
The Mirror + Mother of EarthÂ
Indeed, this is the full moon in Pisces (mutable water) in Virgo (mutable earth) season. It is time again to see myself in my wholeness. Time to witness my own material â my adaptable, resilient, complex, messy, wonderful beingness. If Pisces is primordial goo/infinite potential, the container of Virgo brings structure and detail and specificity.
In this illumination and this seeing is the opportunity to embody my own authentic beingness a little more fully â to say âlook at what isâ and love it.

Reflection/What this moon is reflecting
The Kiss + Strength
There is strength in my willingness to be intimate and to merge with my own wildness â the parts of me that are not always welcomed in the outside world. The parts of me that are specific and that others often do not understand. This is an unpleasant place for me but there is strength in choosing to not separate out the parts of myself that frighten me or make me uncomfortable. There is strength in the curious asking of questions rather than the suppression of impulse. I am stronger when I am able to be with â blend with â the parts of myself that challenge me. This moon is reflecting this as the power of self-intimacy.Â

Celebration/What I can pause to acknowledge and honor during this lunation
The Apocalypsis + Knight of Water
In what ways has the veil been lifted since the last lunation? In recognizing what has shifted and what I now know, how can I celebrate the generative nature of this truth? Sure, celebration can be frivolous but at best, celebration is a way to pause and attune with what is working. How can I engage in celebration as a way to acknowledge what is supporting my thriving and how and to what I owe my growth?
Truth can be celebrated even when it is painful. Even when truth is uncomfortable or spicy, there is potential for holding center amidst the complexity. Or rather, holding complexity at or within my center. Perhaps both. Celebration often helps to mark a rite of passage and in doing so, points us in the direction of continuance. The pause of celebration will help me to know where to go next.Â

Intuition/What I need to know right now
Starborn + 10 of Water
This full moon is for rest. Bodily rest, yes and also rest as surrender. There is an equilibrium between the expanse of potential I am swimming in and the cozy fact that I can only ever be myself inside of it. There is both clear purpose and expansive possibility. Here I can be with myself in my wholeness (and in my complexity) as part of the greater whole â a oneness. Here I can rest and joyously listen and attune to the flow of the divine. Is this not the definition of joy?
One last thingâŚtoday needs a soundtrack. Iâm looping to Frida Tourayâs EP âMending.â
Thank you for being in with me. Iâm wishing you a sweet full moon time with plenty of rest, pleasure, reflection, celebration and anything else you whole beingness is requesting.
